Prudent Women Food Bank
Food is essential and unavoidable — it is a lifeline. The Food Bank meets the food needs of women in society and gives members a platform to save towards the future.
Why it exists
As a forward-thinking women's organization, we established the Prudent Women Food Bank not only to meet the food needs of women in society, but also to provide a platform for saving for the future, especially as food prices continue to rise.
Every year we encourage our members to save so they have enough food for the festive season in December. Food sharing usually takes place during the first week of December. Contributions and payments run from January to December, giving new members room to join and catch up by paying retroactively. Flexibility is key — members can pay in one or two instalments, or as they see fit.
Our goals
- Reducing food waste through community-based food drives and donations.
- Providing emergency food relief to widows, single mothers, and displaced families.
- Promoting local farming and nutrition awareness for sustainable food supply.
- Partnering with compassionate individuals, organisations, and NGOs to expand our reach.
